The Goodness of the Night Upon You!

As a declined tourist community, most of the night spots inside Verona Walls cater to the singles community or to the lower levels of society, with strip clubs and lap-dance cabarets being the top items on the bill. The following clubs are just a sampling of Verona Fare.

The Merchant Of Verona Beach
The Merchant Of Verona Beach

Located by the Sycamore Grove amusement park, The Merchant was once a thriving singles / dance bar but it has gradually slid downhill do being a relateively decent drinking establishment. Many of the younger elements of both houses still come here due to it's proximity to the Sycamore Grove and because it is still a good place to just sit down, listen to music and get pished. But as alcohol is drunk, fists and swords do cross outside in the names of Montague and Capulet.

Pound Of Flesh

Just inside the downtown core we find one of Verona's sleaziest "singles bars". Divided into two parts, one side is seemingly a dance bar for singles, but far more a meat market of the lowest sort. Here the music is loud, the air thick with smoke and the drinks flow freely. The clientelle is young and desperate, and many an unblooded Montague finds his way here. The Capulets disdain this watering hole, supposedly because of the "soiled atmosphere" but more realistically because it is considered Montague turf. The other side is even seedier, a strip club and lap-dance bar where private sessions can be bought for the right-sized tip (40-100eb). The clientelle here is older and quieter, poorly-tuxedoed remnants of the tourist trade, dirty old men in their dirty old suits.

Mistress Quickly
Mistress Quickly

A pure high-energy dance-bar, "the Mistress" opens only Thursday through Saturday and plays the hottest of the american and euro dance-40. Even though the bar is as large as the old church it was built from, vision is severely impaired inside by the rapid flashing and strobing lights that pound through the smoke-machine fog to the 92-decibel audio barrage of pure dance. Most avoid it.

Shining Nights

The "Nights" alternates as a straight-up drinking bar and a live venue, one of few in Verona Walls. Depending on the bands having performed recently or soon to be, one house's men holds this bar as their turf. When a band that both houses love is coming to town, a quiet unease settles over the Nights, and on the night of the gig, occasionaly the expense caused by the brawling exceeds the profits of the gate.

Midnite Hags

The "Hags" is a Trasnvestite / Gay bar near the Sycamore Grove. It offers decent food and drink at decent prices, but it's main attraction is to the tourists, as it also offers an aire of "risque" and a place to talk about when they return to their placid So-Cal homes and jobs and wives. For the Verona resident, the only reason to visit the Hags is to meet out-of-towners or to pick up that special kind of somebody.
